How to Apply
For undergraduate courses, begin your journey towards a rewarding career by selecting your preferred area of interest. You can apply under one of four admission categories:
Applicants with recent secondary education: If you completed your VCE, an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification, or the International Baccalaureate (IB) within the last two years, including any prerequisite studies, this category applies to you. While some courses consider ATAR, most courses at VU do not require a specific ATAR for admission.
Applicants with higher education study: You can apply under this category if you have completed some higher education study, including a minimum of two units or six months of continuous study in an undergraduate degree or higher qualification. Check the specific admission criteria for each course.
Applicants with vocational education & training (VET) study: This category considers applicants who have satisfactorily completed a Diploma-level or above accredited award at an Australian Registered Training Organization. Some VU courses may accept a completed Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or a related discipline.
Applicants with work & life experience: If you do not have a formal academic history, you can be considered based on your work or life experiences. Specific work and life experience admission criteria can be found on the course page.
When preparing your application, ensure you have the necessary documents, including educational qualifications, proof of work and/or life experience, and a statement of interest (optional). Additionally, some courses may have specific admission criteria, such as supplementary information forms, referee reports, interviews, auditions, portfolios, or tests. Check the course page for each program you’re interested in to find out the application deadlines and requirements.
For postgraduate courses, gather your educational qualifications, work and/or life experience documentation, and a statement of interest (optional). Some postgraduate programs may have additional selection tasks or assessments similar to undergraduate courses. Submit your application directly to VU Sydney, ensuring you provide all the required supporting documentation.
Remember not to include original documents with your application, as they will not be returned. If you are applying directly to VU, you can do so through our Admissions Centre. We will acknowledge receipt of your application via email and notify you if any additional documents are needed.
Applying through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is required for current Year 12 students and for applicants who have already submitted an application through VTAC. Follow VTAC guidelines for submitting documents.
